This is the literal description of a “HIDDEN GEM!” This restaurant in the heart of Medical Center in Houston is so good! When you drive by it can be easy to miss, so don’t blink! The staff is so nice and attentive, I love the fact they give you the story of the food the make there, they even tell you what part of Asia this food comes and why is a little spicy. Its cute in the inside and the also sell alcohol. But let’s talk about the food, first of all the dishes are family size, and the make every dish right, with enough veggies or protein . Oh! And they bring a huge bowl of steamed rice for your food! We ordered an appetizer that had cucumbers and a sweet sauce, little spicy but so delicious and fresh. And we also got the noodles and vegetables and the king pap chicken. Very very delicious!

Cooking Girl on Holcombe Blvd. is a true gem for those of us who work in the Texas Medical Center. While not my favorite location (that honor goes to their original Montrose restaurant), having this as a nearby option is amazing. To kick off this Christmas weekend I ordered Whatafish, Eggplant Loves Green Beans, Lotus Pond To Fry, and a pot of Chrysanthemum Tea. That is a ton of food and I could never finish it alone. The best part is packing up my leftovers to share with the family for the next few days. Service could've been better, my waiter started eating lunch with his colleagues and never brought me water, but the food was fresh and delicious, so it didn't bother me. Ambience could be better, but I only come here for lunch, so that's fine by me. Try the Montrose location for dinner. All things considered, Cooking Girl on Holcombe is highly recommended!

This restaurant is a staple for me and my family. We’ve been going here for years and we have always enjoyed our time here. I haven’t been in a while and hadn’t realized they remodeled/redecorated! It looks great, I love the wood accents everywhere. The food was great as usual. Cumin lamb, yellowstone pork, and dry fried green beans were perfect. I’ve seen people complaining about the decrease in portion sizes, I don’t see a problem with it. The prices have stayed pretty constant affordable and there was still enough for me and my dad to leave feeling full. Glad this restaurant is a part of the Houston food scene and I can’t wait for my next visit.

A wonderful find. This Sichuan place has many offerings at various heat levels but I ordered this super flavorful, very spicy dry fried pork. It had a lot of bird's eye chilies so I had to order a Thai tea to manage the heat. The waitresses were kind and helpful. The restaurant was neat, clean, and calming. I liked the atmosphere. I'll be back again.

Ordered the mapo tofu and green/white soup, both were great and big portions. Very reasonable prices. Forgot to take pics at the restaurant, so attached are pics of my leftovers. I plan on coming back :)
